IAN'S ORIGINAL TUNES
Since I started composing my own tunes this year, I've been looking for ways to share them. If any other musicians want to try playing them, I've posted some here for download - sheet music with chords.
THE NORTH WOODS
The North Woods is a reference to Journey's End Farm, in Sterling, Pennsylvania. One of my favorite places on Earth.
Wilford is a cat whom my wife and I fostered for two months in early 2020. He was ultimately adopted, after going viral online.
The Loughcrew Cairns are beautiful, evocative ancient burial mounds in County Meath, Ireland.
THE BORDER ABBEYS
A collection of beautiful ruins in Southern Scotland, near the border with England.
An isolated standing stone circle on the island of Mull, in Scotland.
Cora is a small town in the Wind River Range of Wyoming. The views of the mountains are amazing.
This was my first attempt at songwriting. Dora is our cat, whom we adopted as a kitten in 2010 after she was rescued from a storm drain in Boston.
ONE STEP AT A TIME
I wrote this while we were fostering a newborn kitten whose hind legs weren't properly developed, and he needed help learning to walk.
Pokey is Dora's adopted brother, an 8-year-old cat who has a guilt-trip face when he's disappointed in me that is a perfect fit for a minor key lament.
THE CLOSED DOOR
Another minor-key tune. Nothing causes sorrow in our feline family members like a closed door. They never want to feel left out.
I haven't come up with a title I like yet, but I like this tune. My most recent composition.
